For certain turbocharged models we recommend an 87 degree thermostat to allow optimum running temperature to be achieved. This cooler running thermostat is designed for use in turbocharged engines where an 82 degree thermostat runs the engine too cold, such as where aircon radiators have been removed or an uprated radiator is fitted.

It opens 5 degrees earlier than a standard thermostat 92 degree thermostat, allowing coolant to pass into the radiator sooner reducing the engine's normal running temperature by a few degrees, helping to protect the engine and run it closer to it's optimum power temperature.

The coolstat is supplied as an insert and simply bayonets into the original thermostat housing, once the standard thermostat has been removed.

Cooler running thermostats are designed for vehicles being put under more load or more extreme uses, such as fast road and trackday use. In certain very cold conditions a cooler running thermostat may cause running temperatures to drop below the optimum. This may also apply to vehicles that have water radiator changes and aircon deleted, especially on cruise.

Always monitor your coolant temperature to ensure that correct operating temperatures are being achieved.
