Ryan McLeod’s Racer Industries team from Australia brought their Holden Astra 2.0 Turbo over to the UK for the Brit Car 24 Hour Race 2011 held at Silverstone 30 September – 2 October.
The car based upon the 3 door Astra Z20LEL has had a complete engine rebuild and runs a Garrett Turbo set up with Motec engine management. A full roll cage, race seat and harnesses, coilover suspension, uprated brakes and Team Dynamics wheels complete the package.
Having already completed the Dubai 24 hour race in January this year, the car had undergone a few changes and ran at Barcelona a week ealier unfortuantely suffering an engine bay fire due to overheating wiring. The team of 5 drivers for Britcar consisted of McLeod, Walshn Camilleri, Kaye and Joe Girling, well known to us from the Production Toring Car Championship.
The Astra was prepared in Australia and is fitted with several key components supplied to the team by Courtenay Sport including a Courtenay Sport Astra VXR Full Height Intercooler, Courtenay Sport Cast Exhaust Manifold for GT turbo, Courtenay Klasen High Flow Inlet Manifold, Courtenay High Fow Plenum, Race Cera-Metallic Clutch, Billet Steel Flywheel, Astra VXR Enlarged Water Radiator, additional brake cooling ducts and Courtenay Sport Silicone Hoses.
After an eventful 24 hours racing, the car finished P11 out of 57; Congratulations Guys.
